Are you passionate about the future development of Newcastle? The City Council is inviting residents like you to apply for a unique opportunity to serve on the Planning Commission. This vital role not only allows you to influence major projects and land use policies but also to play a pivotal part in wrapping up the update of our Comprehensive Plan.

 

Position Highlights:

  • Influence City Planning: As a member of this seven-member advisory board, you will provide crucial input on the Comprehensive Plan, zoning, and other long-range policies and plans that shape Newcastle.
  • Collaborate and Engage: Work alongside city staff and other commissioners on projects endorsed by the City Council as part of an impactful annual work program.
  • Commitment to Community: Serve a four-year term and attend monthly meetings, contributing directly to the community's growth and development.

 

Planning Commission Meeting Information:

Location: Council Chambers, 12835 Newcastle Way, Suite 200, Newcastle, WA 98056

Time: Typically, the Planning Commission meets on the Fourth Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m., although special meetings may be held outside of the regular meeting schedule.

 

Application Process:

  • Age and Residency: Applicants must be at least 18 years old and residents of Newcastle.

  • Interview: Anticipated interview dates are January 2 & 3, 2025.
