Serve Your Community: Join the Community Activities Commission

 

Are you passionate about building community, creating engaging events, and enhancing Newcastle’s parks and trails? The City Council is seeking applicants to fill anticipated vacancies on the Community Activities Commission (CAC). We’re building an eligibility list now in preparation for two expected openings in 2025.

Position Highlights:

  • Advise and Recommend: As a member of this seven-member advisory body, you’ll serve as a resource to the City Council on:
    • Park planning, design, and construction
    • Park and facility development and renovation
    • Trails, paths, and recreational programs
    • Community-wide events and celebrations
  • Volunteer and Lead: CAC members don’t just advise—they lead. You’ll help implement the Council’s annual work plan and directly volunteer at city events alongside staff and community members.
  • Commitment to Community: Serve a four-year term and attend monthly meetings, contributing directly to the community's quality of life through events, recreation programming, and park and trail enhancements.

 

Community Activities Commission Meeting Information:

Location: Council Chambers, 12835 Newcastle Way, Suite 200, Newcastle, WA 98056

Time: Typically, the Community Activities Commission meets on the Second Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m., although special meetings may be held outside of the regular meeting schedule.

  • Age and Residency: Applicants must be at least 18 years old and residents of Newcastle.
