The global theme for Earth Day 2024 is Planet vs. Plastics, and the City of Newcastle Community Activities Commission has planned activities for the entire month of April.
From learning opportunities to hands-on actions, there's something for everyone. At month's end, you'll be invited to share your contributions for special recognition.
Highlights include:
- Spring Recycling Collection event on Saturday, April 6 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Hazelwood Elementary School.
- Bottle Cap Collection for the Newcastle Arts Council. Bring to City Hall for reuse as art.
- Scavenger Hunt at Lake Boren Park to learn about our Storm Water Management system.
- Sewing Circle event on Thursday, April 18 from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. at City Hall to learn how to make simple repairs to clothing.
- Weed Warriors cleanup on Sunday, April 21 from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. at Lake Boren Park to clear invasive non-native plants.
- Compost Bin Decoration to inspire composting. Pick up a free bin at City Hall.
