Exercise Your Right to Vote
King County administers the election process in partnership with local municipalities. Register to vote online or keep your address current 24 hours a day on the Secretary of State's website. Voter registration forms can be printed or requested via postal mail from this website and mailed in, and forms are also available at most libraries. In 2009, King County switched to all-mail in voting for its elections. Ballots are mailed to voters 20 days prior to each election in which they are eligible to vote. Voters can return ballots by regular mail, at a ballot drop box or a ballot drop-off van, or at a King County accessible voting center. Accessible voting centers are open to voters who may have difficulty completing their mail ballot without assistance or anyone who would like to vote privately and independently. Information on the locations of voting centers, ballot drop boxes or drop-off vans is available approximately 30 days before the election. Find more information on drop box locations here, and on accessible voting centers by visiting this website.
In 2017, King County Elections installed a ballot drop box at Newcastle City Hall (12835 Newcastle Way). Citizens do not need a stamp when they return the ballot to a drop box.
