Newcastle 2044 - Comprehensive Plan Update

The comprehensive plan is a collection of the goals, policies, and plans which guide development and growth in the city. They are mandatory documents updated every 10 years, and reflect the city's vision for the next 20 years. Newcastle is currently underway with an update of its comprehensive plan, due at the end of 2024.

Public Participation Opportunities!

Planning Commission Meetings
The City has kicked off the 2024 Comprehensive Plan effort with the Planning Commission and planning consultant SCJ Alliance. We would love to have you at an upcoming meeting to lend your thoughts. You can find out more about the Planning Commission and how to attend or watch a meeting on our YouTube channel at this link.

Here is the Public Participation Plan discussed at the April 2023 meeting.

 Online Survey Results

In January 2024, the City held an online survey regarding the future vision of Newcastle. Results can be viewed here.

What do you love about Newcastle?
Show us what you love about Newcastle, capturing the everyday scenes or special events which make this town unique. Take a picture and send it to us at [email protected], including a short caption. (Note emails cannot be larger than 20MB). We'll review and catalog every image, including as many as possible in the new comprehensive plan (with credit!) to help describe the things, people, and activities the community loves. We are also working on a way to share them with the public via this website.

The Penny Poll (Completed)

Thank you to all of you who participated in the Penny Poll online and at our events this summer! We had almost 400 participants!
While the results are not statistically valid, we did get an idea of what some Newcastle residents might be interested in seeing emphasized in the next Comprehensive Plan. Results can be found here.

May 1-May 25, 2023 Middle Housing Survey (Completed)

Middle Housing Survey was posted. Thank you for all those who participated! The middle housing survey report and results can be viewed at this website.
