The Newcastle Spring Recycling Collection Event will take place April 8, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hazelwood Elementary School. No vehicles may enter after 3:00 p.m.
Please provide exact change for user fees.
Only the following items will be accepted:

Tires: Limit 6 passenger tires per household, 18" and below, free of charge. $1.50 for extra tires off the rim. $3 for all passenger tires on rims. $9 for each large truck tire and $18 for each truck tire on rim. No oversized tires accepted. Cash only.

Lead Acid Batteries: Car, truck, marine, motorcycle, and sealed lead acid batteries.

Alkaline Batteries: AAAA, AAA, AA, A, B, C, and D cell alkaline batteries. No rechargeable, cell phone, lithium-ion (like tool and vape batteries), or nicad batteries accepted. Visit call2recycle.org for more battery recycling options.

Confidential Document Shredding: Shredding and recycling of confidential paper materials, limit 4 file-size boxes, no exceptions.

Styrofoam blocks and packing peanuts: White Styrofoam blocks and packing peanuts (any color). All materials must be clean and dry. No urethane foam cushions, hot tub covers, expanded polypropylene, or foam insulation. Expanded polystyrene only, (Look for the #6 or EPS inside the recycling symbol.) Please keep packing peanuts in box or bag.

Electronic/Computer Equipment: DVD players, VCRs, stereo equipment, printers, copiers, fax machines, scanners, cellular phones (remove personal information first), computers and computer monitors (no charge), mouse, keyboards, tablet computers, and e-readers.

Television Sets: TV sets encased in plastic, wood console, sets encased in wood, and big-screen TVs accepted (no charge).

Cardboard: Please flatten. No wax-coated cardboard.

Propane Tanks: Residential tanks only. $5 charge, cash only.

Porcelain Toilets and Sinks: Toilet seats, hardware, and base wax rings must be removed. $15 charge, cash only.

Appliances and Scrap Metal: Household appliances, auto parts, engines, and gas lawnmowers (drained of oil and gasoline), metal lawn chairs, stoves, barbecues, iron, steel, aluminum, brass, copper, and other ferrous and nonferrous metals. $5 (cash only) will be charged for each water heater that still has insulation coating. Metals that are insulated, rubber- or oil-coated, previously or currently contain chemicals, paint, or hazardous materials will not be accepted. No light fixture ballasts or sealed drums accepted. Any item that contains gas or oil will be rejected.

Refrigerators/Freezers and Air Conditioners: $35 will be charged for each refrigerator or freezer. $35 will be charged for each household air conditioner. Please be prepared to pay at event entrance; cash only.
Please note: Household goods and clothing will not be accepted. This material can be self-hauled to local donation locations. Call first to confirm donation locations are open and accepting material. No flatbed or dump trucks allowed. We reserve the right to refuse oversized, commercial, contaminated, excessive, or unacceptable loads.

- Oil-based paint/solvents
- Pesticides/herbicides
- Solvents and thinners
- Household chemicals
Household hazardous wastes can be taken to the hazardous waste collection site in Factoria, which is located at 13800 SE 32nd Street, Bellevue. The site is open 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Tuesday – Friday, and 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday (except major holidays). There is a limit of 25 gallons of gasoline and other automotive fluids per trip. Containers must be five gallons in size or smaller. Customers may have gas containers back upon request. Separate motor (crankcase) oil from all other fluids. Pure crankcase oil containers will be returned. No latex paint is accepted. See www.paintcare.org/wa for more information on paint collection.

Other ways to recycle electronics:
Call 1-800-RECYCLE or visit ecyclewa.org to find authorized E-Cycle Washington collection locations. Drop off TVs, computer monitors, desktop and laptop computers, tablets, e-readers, and portable DVD players at the Goodwill Renton Store or E-Recycle on Mercer Island. Call first to confirm hours. Drop-off locations may change, and quantities accepted may be limited. Note that computer peripherals such as keyboards, mice, and printers are not included in the E-Cycle program but will be accepted at City Recycling events. Remember, it’s always a good idea to delete or remove all personal information from any item you’re recycling.
